How the 2/4 rotation works
Each crew works 14 days offshore, usually 12-hour shifts, then has 28 days at home. The cycle is 6 weeks long, and three crews (A, B, C) are offset by two weeks each, so one crew is always on the installation. Real rotations add travel days, weather delays and crew changes on a set weekday – treat the dates below as the plan, not the helicopter booking.
2027 trip dates
Example where crew A goes offshore on Monday, January 4, 2027:
| Crew | Trips in 2027 | Days offshore in 2027 | Hours (12 h) |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | 4 Jan – 17 Jan, 15 Feb – 28 Feb, 29 Mar – 11 Apr, 10 May – 23 May, 21 Jun – 4 Jul, 2 Aug – 15 Aug, 13 Sep – 26 Sep, 25 Oct – 7 Nov, 6 Dec – 19 Dec | 126 | 1,512 |
| B | 18 Jan – 31 Jan, 1 Mar – 14 Mar, 12 Apr – 25 Apr, 24 May – 6 Jun, 5 Jul – 18 Jul, 16 Aug – 29 Aug, 27 Sep – 10 Oct, 8 Nov – 21 Nov, 20 Dec – 2 Jan 2028 | 124 | 1,488 |
| C | until 3 Jan, 1 Feb – 14 Feb, 15 Mar – 28 Mar, 26 Apr – 9 May, 7 Jun – 20 Jun, 19 Jul – 1 Aug, 30 Aug – 12 Sep, 11 Oct – 24 Oct, 22 Nov – 5 Dec | 115 | 1,380 |
Over a full cycle every crew spends one third of the year offshore – about 122 days. The differences in 2027 only come from where the year boundary falls. In this example crew B spends Christmas and New Year 2027/28 offshore, while crew C starts 2027 on the platform. Crew A is home for both Christmases.
